Malcolm Blackwood - Biography

Malcolm Blackwood has 35 years experience in the industry designing and updating full flight simulators up to and including FAA and JAA/EASA Level D (as well as lesser devices) for many different aeroplane types. His primary focus is on flight simulator performance and handling issues along with regulatory authority Qualification Test Guide development.

He graduated with an Honours Degree in Aeronautical Engineering and Design from Loughborough University of Technology in 1978 and has worked in the flight simulation industry ever since, spending time working for both Redifon/Rediffusion and Singer-Link. Since 1994 he has worked as an independent consultant, traveling far and wide to assist clients.

Malcolm is a past member of the International Standards Working Group, the IATA Flight Simulator Data Requirements Document Working Group and the European Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) JAR-STD Working Group.

He is the primary author of the Aeroplane Flight Simulator Training Device Evaluation Handbook published by the Royal Aeronautical Society, and is a member of the RAeS Flight Simulator Group Committee which organizes select conferences.
