John O’Halloran

Based in Brisbane, John is a core member of TTI.  He has a vast background in aircraft and simulator operations, and is frequently sought to flight test aircraft and FSTD's.

 John O'Halloran - Biography

John O'Halloran is recently retired from Cathay Pacific Airways as Manager Flight Technical Services and B777 Captain where he was responsible for the technical operation of Cathay Pacific's fleet of aircraft and for FSTD operations and performance. He has been involved with simulator acceptance, development and qualification for the last 20+ years.

John started in aviation at the Royal Australian Airforce Academy in 1975. On graduation from pilot's course he flew the Mirage III fighter before being sent to the UK to complete the Empire Test Pilot's School. His subsequent flight testing included a range of aircraft from single piston engine trainers to the supersonic Mirage and F-111. He then returned to the operational world finishing his military career as Executive Officer on a F-18 Hornet squadron.

Leaving the military for the airlines in 1990 he started on the L1011 Tristar and has since flown the A330, A340, B747-400, B747-8 and is currently operating the B777. 

He has continued to use his test pilot qualifications conducting airworthiness test flights on the B747 and B777 aircraft. 

His simulator evaluation activities commenced in 1993 with the acceptance of a B747-400 simulator. Since then he has been involved in a number of new simulator acceptances as well as upgrades. He is approved by his local regulator to conduct simulator qualifications on their behalf and train others to obtain similar approvals. He is recently retired as the manager of test pilots conducting airworthiness test flights and simulator qualifications for his and other airlines.
